St. John’s Youth Group is the place where our middle and high schoolers can build strong and spiritually vibrant relationships while walking together through the ups and downs of their teenage years. Youth Leader Ann Badger works together with other adult volunteers to offer a variety of activities, including opportunities for service, fellowship, outreach, spiritual exploration, and personal development. Recent activities have included making prayer flags, game nights, an old-fashioned hayride and bonfire, movie outings, exploring different kinds of prayer, journal-making, collecting and sending gifts for Operation Christmas Child, and a Columbus Clippers baseball game. In the coming weeks and months we’ll be creating sacred mandalas, going to Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark, doing some local community service, and selecting books to read and discuss in our Summer Book Group.
Youth Group provides middle and high schoolers with a space where they are always respected and valued as beloved children of God, regardless of academic and extracurricular achievements and social standing. Bullying is not tolerated in Youth Group, and we seek to follow Jesus’s teachings and treat each other as we would like to be treated.
Youth Group meets every other week, and meeting times alternate between Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. All youth in 6th through 12th grades are encouraged to participate in Youth Group, and youth are always welcome to bring friends along! Parents can lend a hand by volunteering to provide food and beverages for our meetings and serving as chaperones for our special outings.
