Children & Youth Ministry This Week

Formation Eucharist This Sunday!

After months of planning and the involvement of a cast of millions (well, at least dozens), the Formation Eucharist is ready to launch!  This Sunday at the 9:00 AM service, we’ll show you everything we’ve been working on!  We won’t have Children’s Church that day, since we’ll all be in the sanctuary learning together throughout the entire service.  Over time we hope to answer all of the questions that you and your children have ever had about why we do what we do in worship.  For this first Formation Eucharist, we’ll be focusing on the psalms.  We’ll have a children’s bulletin to keep kids focused on the service, and children are invited to come to the aisle for the sermon and the Prayers of the People.  We hope that you’ll sit with your children, and help them learn as you learn.

Sunday School This Week

We’re continuing our month long deep dive into the story of the Prodigal Son.  Last week we heard the story and created tableaus to illustrate it.  This week we’ll look at artworks from throughout the ages and make collages to explore the story visually.

St. John’s Cares – Join Us as We Host a Drug Safe Worthington Event!

The 5th Worthington Cares Speaker Series event is Monday, January 22, 2018,  at Worthington Kilbourne High School.  The topic is “Alcohol and Other Drug Addiction: America’s Invisible Thief.” In addition to providing a basic yet vital foundational understanding of addiction, Jim Joyner(Chemical Dependency Counselor) will describe how addiction impacts the whole family and the greater community and what can be done to prevent drug use.

St. John’s Hospitality & Fellowship Committee is hosting the free family dinner (pizza, salad, cookies).  We could use a few volunteer servers!  And any parishioner wishing to come for dinner and attend the lecture would be very welcome – just RSVP here:

Youth Group Winter Hike at High Banks on January 21st!

Well, really I’ve already said most of what you need to know in the heading.  We’ll be hiking at High Banks on January 21st, leaving right after the 11:00 service, so be at the church at 12:30 PM if you want to come.  Also, let me know if you can come, so I can make sure that there’s a ride for you.  Dress warm.  If it’s below 25 degrees, we’ll postpone until a warmer day.  But we’re planning to hike and then have a campfire out in the woods!
