Join the New St. John's Evening Book Club!
Wanted: Experienced and novice book club members! We're looking for a mixed group of men and women ages 16 to 160 to help establish a new, evening book group. Not sure if this is the right thing for you? Here are some questions (and answers!) to help you decide:
) Do you enjoy reading books that challenge your assumptions and stretch your mind? If so, you should consider joining us.

Do you want to contribute to a bookish fellowship with other
like-minded souls?
If so, you should certainly join us.

Do you like reading novels, history, personal perspectives,
classics and theology?
If so, you should definitely join us.

Do you want to learn about concepts and controversies in a
supportive environment?
If so, you must join us!
Lorey Roggenkamp and Nancy Elkington are starting a new ministry for those who want to explore a new way to grow as Christians and to pursue a new opportunity to meet others who feel the same.
What can new Members of St John's Evening Book Group (EBG) expect?
§ Our first (inaugural) meeting will be Wednesday October 13;
§ We will meet twice a month every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 7:15pm to 9:00pm;
§ Our first book will be The Great Emergence: How Christianity is Changing by Phyllis Tickle;*
§ Discussions of any one book will be structured and will extend over multiple evenings;
§ Leadership of discussions will rotate amongst those who want to take on this responsibility; the organizers will suggest shortcuts to make planning of discussions a bit easier than doing so from scratch;
§ Printable versions of (1) a fuller description of our plans and (2) a draft book list will be posted on our website; paper copies will be available at our inaugural meeting;
§ If members are interested, we will collect and share a listing of contact details (phone numbers and email);
§ If members are willing, we will create a refreshments sign up system whereby the responsibility for providing snacks on a given evening will rotate around the group;
*The Columbus Metropolitan Library System currently owns 9 copies. If you prefer to own your own copy, a few copies are available on the shelves at Cokesbury (Graceland) and Borders (Kenny Road). Nancy will be placing a bulk order for those who want their own copy please call or email me no later than September 10 to request a copy get in touch no later than September 20; payment in cash or check only please.
